They may then install the older version of Firefox anew. The first issue happens when Firefox users run into issues after an update of the Firefox browser. There are two main use cases where this happens: first, when a release version of Firefox causes issues, and when users use the same profile on different versions of the browser. While Mozilla never really supported downgrades of the browser before, it was usually no problem to downgrade a particular version of the Firefox browser. So starting with taking backup copy of the profile folder is step one and then trying out the previous working version is the logical next option.Īt least that is what I have done and it has been working just fine, obviously doing the refresh is lot's quicker and can easily be done by non tech savvy person too.If you have upgraded a version of Firefox to version 55 or newer, you won’t be able to downgrade that version of the browser later on to an older version. However with my gt330m doing all the lifting, I can get 1080p 60fps from both services. Without having gpu doing all the work for video playback, on my laptop 480p YouTube is max that I can get and 144p is what I can get out from twitch. Then upgrading back to the then latest 0.2 release worked out just fine.

To get gpu acceleration working, I had to revent back to the 0.1 version and immediately it started working again.

I would recommend taking backup copy of the Firefox profile folder and start by trying with older Firefox version.įor example going from Firefox 63.0.1 to the next 63.0.2 totally broke gpu acceleration on my laptop. Going out with full profile wipe would be the next move and it would be like taking out a nuclear weapons out because of those garbage cans. But that is like taking a shotgun out because your neighbor accidentally tipped your garbage cans over.
